Who we are

Kia Ora, Haere Mai to the Project Esther website. Thank you for visiting. Testing some things here we go

Project Esther Charitable Trust has been working with women and their families for almost two decades. With a staff of seven and many volunteers we offer a range of activities and support.

Emergency/temporary support accommodation. Te Whare Atawhai offers short term relief from six weeks to six months. Women in situations of difficulty or crisis use the house as they transition to longer term accommodation.

WOW Group includes a weekly group meeting and advocacy support for visits to WINZ, Housing New Zealand, Lawyers, and Doctors.

Music and Movement classes occur each Wednesday for parents and caregivers to foster bonding and musical enjoyment. These sessions provide opportunities to connect with others in the local area.

Christchurch Women’s Prison. For many years we have assisted inmates working with the Chaplains to provide pastoral care, craft and chapel services.

Christian Women living with or recovering from domestic abuse are able to access support, resources and information.

Subsidised counselling is often available at our premises and with local counsellors

Referrals are always welcome. We operate from 248 Lyttleton Street, Spreydon, Monday to Thursday.

Project Esther is a Community Ministry of South West Baptist Church.
